“Effective Radio” To Follow Catsimatidis’ “Cats Roundtable” in Newsmaking Sunday Line-Up
AM970 The Answer is making a power play on Sunday mornings, creating the most formidable weekend block of local political talk radio in the New York City metropolitan area. Effective Sunday, April 17th, the Salem Media-owned station will move up “Effective Radio with Bill Samuels” an hour earlier to 10AM, so that the show will immediately follow billionaire mogul and former NYC mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis’ “The Cats Roundtable”.
Since “Effective Radio” launched in October, the weekly hour-long show, which focuses on New York politics and government, has consistently made headlines with its newsmaking interviews with guests ranging from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Senate Minority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins to New Yorker columnist Ken Auletta and former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.
“With the one-two punch of ‘Effective Radio’ and ‘The Cats Roundtable’, AM970 will be giving our listeners a rock solid block of two-and-a-half hours of dynamic, thought-provoking, can’t-miss local talk radio every Sunday morning,” said Jerry Crowley, AM 970’s vice president and general manager. “Both of these shows have been runaway successes on their own, attracting huge guests and legions of devoted listeners. By putting them back-to-back—with host Frank Morano’s Morano in the Morning as a lead-in—I think it’s safe to say we’ve assembled the best and most influential Sunday line-up of live and local political talk in New York.
“We launched this show in October to stimulate serious discussion about important issues and inspire action on innovative policies, and it has been tremendously gratifying to see that we’ve had an impact,” said Bill Samuels. “To hit back-to-back-to-back with John and Frank is an honor for me and I’m grateful to Jerry Crowley for giving our listeners such a compelling reason to keep their radios tuned to AM970 all Sunday morning.”
Effective Radio’s host, Bill Samuels, is a successful businessman, leading Democratic activist, and renowned good government fighter in New York. The show’s co-host and producer, Morgan Pehme, is the executive director of Samuels’ public policy think tank, EffectiveNY, a PIX11 political contributor, and former editor-in-chief of City & State magazine.
